I believe these 5 everyday makeup essentials can get the job done for everyone. If you are new to wearing makeup or just want a quick routine you can do daily, this list is for you. Makeup in some form has become a part of most women’s everyday lives so this list of items can easily fit into anyone’s list of everyday items. When compiling this list, I considered the things that women might use when they only have a short amount of time to get ready but want to do quick enhancements to their natural look.
Here’s my list of makeup essentials you should have.
The 5 Makeup Essentials for Beginners
This makeup essential is on the list for women who like to simply even out their complexion without wearing a full coverage foundation. This can also be substituted for a bb cream, but I have found that I am able to get closer color matches with concealers than with bb creams and the right concealer can double as a bb cream.
Recommended Brand: Kosas Revealer Concealer
One of my favorite concealers to use when I do my makeup is by the clean beauty company, Kosas. The concealer promises to reveal better-looking skin without creasing and can be purchased here. This is a product that offers a multitude of benefits which is why it is on the list. Many of the ingredients in this product can help protect and preserve your skin, while also adding a beautiful finish.

A good lipstick can dramatically impact how you look. It is a subtle way to stand out. The right lipstick can act as a hydrating agent while also providing a great lip. Liquid matte lipsticks are a favorite of mine and have become extremely popular amongst lipstick wearers. The formula of a liquid matte lipstick makes it easy to apply and then gets an even color distribution when it dries.
Recommended Brand: Gucci Transfer-Proof Matte Liquid Lipstick
Also, you can wear lipstick without wearing any other makeup and still have a complete look with very little effort. My current favorite is the Transfer-proof Matte Liquid lipstick by Gucci. It is a soft matte finish that also hydrates the lips and stays on all day.
3) Mascara Primer
Long and full eyelashes have become a staple for many women. They really can enhance your overall appearance. Often times this is done with eyelash extensions, but for women that may want to have fuller-looking lashes without extensions, priming your lashes before applying mascara is a great way to do this. I am sure mascara is on many people’s everyday makeup list, but mascara primer should also be a part of that conversation.
Recommended Brand: Lancome Cils Booster XL Mascara Primer
Many brands carry mascara primer, but my go-to is the Cils Booster by Lancome.
If you are going to wear mascara primer, then of course you need mascara on your list of everyday makeup essentials. A good mascara can go a long way. It can wake up the eyes instantly without having to do much else to your face.
Recommended Brand: Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara
My all-time favorite mascara is the Too Faced Better Than Sex Volumizing & Lengthening Mascara. It is effortless to apply and has a unique curve pattern that allows for precise application to both the top and lower lash.

5) Eyebrow Pencil
The last but undoubtedly essential item on my everyday makeup list is an eyebrow pencil. This may be the most essential item to have. Eyebrows frame our entire face so having a clean shape and great shading can really help to add a beautiful dimension to your face.
I recommend using a pencil with a comb on one end so you can first comb the eyebrow hairs in the same direction to help outline the desired shape. The one that I recommend trying is the Maybelline Total Temptation Eyebrow Definer Pencil. Next, you would use the eyebrow pencil to define that shape and add shading. I prefer eyebrow pencils that are retractable so I don’t have to worry about also having a pencil sharpener as well.

Things to Know for Beginners: Can Makeup Expire?
The answer is yes, it can. But how long does it last? This depends on the type of makeup and the ingredients used.
Some types of makeup, such as foundation, typically last around six months. However, products like mascara and eyeliner have a shorter shelf life, usually lasting only three months. This is because they come into contact with bacteria from your eyes which can cause them to spoil more quickly.
It’s important to keep track of when your favorite cosmetics were purchased so you can be sure to discard them before they go bad. Most manufacturers print an expiration date on their products, but if not, there are online guidelines that can help you determine how long a product will last.
When in doubt, it’s always better to err on the side of caution and toss a product that may be past its expiration date. Using expired makeup can cause skin irritation, breakouts, and infection. So play it safe and don’t take any chances with your beauty routine!
