In this blog, we will talk about what are independent adjuster firms, what are independent adjuster firm rosters, the BIn this blog, we will talk about what are independent adjuster firms, what are independent adjuster firm rosters, the Big 6 independent adjuster firms to join, and how many independent adjuster firm rosters one should consider joining for success in getting deployed.
What is an Independent Adjuster Firm?
IA stands for Independent Adjuster(s). An independent adjuster plays a crucial role in the insurance industry by providing contractual support for insurance firms, also known as carriers. They are the professionals responsible for evaluating insurance claims and determining the appropriate payouts, and they are hired when the demand for adjusters exceeds the capacity of the staff hired by the insurance firm. To be hired in this field, independent adjusters need to ensure they are in the right place at the right time to be hired. One way to achieve this is by joining an independent adjuster rosters.
What are Independent Adjuster Rosters?
Commonly referred to as IA rosters, which are short for Independent Adjuster rosters, are databases or networks of qualified and licensed independent adjusters available for hire by insurance companies or independent adjusting firms. These rosters serve as a go-to resource for insurance carriers and adjusting firms when they require additional expertise to assess claims quickly and efficiently.
How Many Independent Adjuster Firm Rosters Should You Join?
When it comes to the number of firms an independent adjuster should join, it boils down to several factors. The first is the weather season, if major storms are going on around the time you are licensed and looking to join rosters it may be easier to get deployed when there is a need. Some adjusters believe less is more to allow you to follow up with the firms so if you get deployed instantly due to a major storm season, you may only want to apply to 20 firms.
When storm season is slower than normal, we highly encourage you to apply to over 100 firms! This number may sound extreme, but getting deployed is simply about which firms know who you are, and the more rosters you are on the more chances you will get to be deployed. One thing to keep in mind is that the more rosters you join, the more effort it takes to update each one and follow up; however, this is if you want to give yourself the most opportunities to stay deployed if that is your goal. Deployments also depend on your location, but we will discuss that in another blog.
Our list currently has more than 130 firms and we will eventually build it up to include over 300 independent adjuster firms. Please see our list below for your reference and we hope you have a great storm season!
The Big 6 Independent Adjuster Firms Hiring New Adjusters
The reason why we refer to the following independent adjusting firms as the Big 6 is because they have the largest carriers represented for deployment opportunities and they are known for allowing new and experienced adjusters the opportunity to find work in the field. We encourage you to join their rosters first for this reason, but also because onboarding may take longer in the beginning since they are able to deploy more adjusters at once.
Each firm listed on the Big 6 also offers learning portals where you can obtain licenses or receive free trainings to develop your skillset as a professional.
The following list will be updated as time goes on to serve as reference material for independent adjusters looking for ways to increase their chances of getting deployed or finding work. This list should not be considered an endorsement of any company mentioned and you should do your own due diligence regarding your choice to apply or work for any firm listed. Our list is considered the best because it has the most updated information on each publicly listed firm which independent adjusters can apply.
If you would like to add your firm to our list or if you would like your firm to be removed from our list, please email info@justintimeblogs.com with your firm’s name, website, phone number, and HQ location.
Best Way to Use Our Independent Adjuster Firms List
In conclusion, the journey to success as an independent adjuster is paved with strategic decisions, and joining IA rosters is a pivotal step in that direction. Rather than overwhelming yourself by trying to join all the rosters listed above, consider a steady approach by joining a few rosters each day. This allows you to carefully assess the reputation and opportunities each roster presents, ensuring you align yourself with the best possible prospects.
As you embark on this journey, ask yourself: How many IA rosters do you plan to join today? It’s not just a numerical decision but a thoughtful investment in your professional future. By making deliberate choices and steadily increasing your exposure and availability to more firms, you are not just expanding your opportunities; you are laying the foundation for a successful and fulfilling career as an independent adjuster.
If you found this blog helpful, we ask that you share it with a fellow independent adjuster struggling to find work.
